The Porsche Cayenne is at the same time undeniably a sports car and not a sport SUV. Some improvements for the 2015 model year include some equipment tweaks, addition of spiffier sheet metal and a pair of new engines.
New V6 Engine
A 3.6-liter twin-turbocharged V-6 engine is also new for the 2015 Porsche Cayenne S model replacing the earlier V-8 4.8-liter. This new turbo V-6 generates 420 hp at 6,000 rpm and 406 lb-ft of torque at 1,350-4,500 rpm. The improvement includes 20 hp and 37 lb- ft and 0.4 seconds in the 0-62 mph sprint with 5.2 seconds. The new Cayenne S can reach 160 mph top speed. The available Sport Chrono package may add its performance.
2015 Porsche Cayenne Hybrid
Revealed at the 2014 Paris Auto Show, the first up model is the new 2015 Porsche Cayenne S E Hybrid which offers considerably better gas mileage in some use circumstances as well as restricted all-electric range. It shares much of its internals with the new plug-in hybrid Cayenne Porsche’s third plug-in model, the Panamera S E Hybrid. It is powered by a 333-hp supercharged 3.0-liter V-6 engine, a 10.8-kWh lithium-ion battery pack and a 95-hp electric motor. Depending on the conditions and charge level, the motor provides efficiency-advancing hybrid push and all-electric drive mode. The Cayenne S E Hybrid produces a total combined system output at 416 hp. The all-electric mode reaches top speed at 78 mph. There is no information about a range for the Cayenne’s electric mode, but the Panamera S E Hybrid can reach 18-30 miles distance depending on driving conditions.
The new model year of the 2015 Porsche Cayenne will bring the previous diesel and Cayenne Turbo with focused on the aesthetics updates found across the 2015 Cayenne lineups. Exterior improvements include new airblade fins on all side of the front end to help direct air for better cooling, and more defined lines, sharper, new hood and front fenders. All models get standard Bi-Xenon headlights except the Turbo that receive LED headlights with Dynamic Light technology.
