Several months ago, Kia as Korean automaker has given seven-year coverage unlimited kilometer warranty for their Australian customer.
Kia is one of the fastest growing car brands in Australia. This is the longest warranty of Australian automotive history. Before Kia, Hyundai had ever given five-year 130,000km first automotive warranty in this country, but it was about fifteen years ago or in 1999. They increased the warranty into unlimited in 2006. Other latest record was recorded by Citroen as French automaker which has offered six year unlimited warranty.
Then, the record has been broken by Kia with their seven-year unlimited coverage warranty. This record makes some pressure for huge brands such as Ford, Mazda, Toyota, Volkswagen, Subaru and even Honda who still offer three years of coverage. This is one of strategies for Kia in order to resale value of Kia cars at traded.
However, Kia is still outside the top 10 sellers now instead of its sister Hyundai who on the big four of ranks. It is still happening in the Australia, we will see the impact of this longer warranty on the Asia, Europe and America market. Will Kia dominate the market for the next year instead of Hyundai? Or even it will be worsted?
