The latest Mini Hardtop is added into the new 2015 Mini range and it is not mini than its forerunner. There is a size increase for the latest three-door Hardtop that is good for a spacious interior, but it makes the car looks like a larger scale Mini. Now Mini comes with five-door model after the Countryman crossover. This five door model increases the cabin space but doesn’t fix the Hardtop’s visual look.
The 5-Door Mini is a mildly extended Mini with an additional pair of doors installed. It has a roughly six inches overall length with the wheelbase increases by just half that making the addition of back doors looks odd. But the rear doors will make it accessible back seat. This new 2015 Mini range also increase the cargo capacity into 9.2 cubic feet behind the rear seats and the car can carry five people.
This new 2015 Mini range gets the same engines as with the Hardtop. The base Cooper models is powered by a 1.5-liter direct-injected and turbocharged 3-cylinder gasoline engine connected with either a 6-speed automatic or 6-speed manual transmission to front-wheel drive. The engine can generate 134 hp and 162 lb-ft of torque. The Cooper S is the best choice that comes with six-speed transmission and a turbocharged 2.0-liter four cylinder producing 189 hp and 207 lb-ft of torque. It can increase torque number to 170 and 221 lb-ft with overboost function.
Features And Price
The new 2015 Mini range gets road speed-limit signs detection, HUD, collision and pedestrian-collision alerts, adaptive cruise control with camera, and an automatic braking system. This new five-door Mini is cheaper and smaller than the Countryman, and they can be popular car like the other range. The peculiar Clubman five-door concept hopefully has a future especially with its barn doors design making it as a potential full-driven SUV. This might indicates that Mini is more sophisticated and conventional than we think.
