2018 Aston Martin DB11 Volante is another Volante based on the Aston Martin’s iconic DB11. For the last 50 some years, Aston Martin convertibles have used the Volante name including the 1965 Short Chassis Volante, the 1966DB6 based Volante, the V8 Volante, and the DB9 and DBS Volante on the most recent years.
2018 Aston Martin DB11 Volante Interior And Exterior
The DB11 Volante will look similar to the DB11 at the outside. The grille, front spoiler lip and mesh-backed air dam are the same at the front. The sharp body line on the door and fender vents on the sides are identical. When it comes without its top, those beefy haunches in the back will be kept for the 2018 Aston Martin DB11 Volante thanks to the DB11’s universal design. The Windshield is not changed. Driver can store the top by folding it down into the rear. It won’t be too dramatic the appearance change for the rear though there will be redesign for how the storage door for the retractable top at the rear is lifted from the rear deck to shape a pod on the both of the headrests. It will remain the same for the back except this, and the lifted case on the storage lid.
Alcantara and fine leather are some of the luxury you can see inside the Volante as in the standard DB11. Any real change inside won’t be present, apart from for the headroom with infinite space and luggage room shed. To have room for the retractable top, trunk space is reduces. The classic GT arrangement similarities, eight-inch infotainment screen and the same overall design will be offered. The flat-bottom steering wheel and the race-inspired instrument cluster is also standard.
2018 Aston Martin DB11 Volante Release Date
The engine used for the 2018 Aston Martin DB11 Volante is unknown whether it will keep both units or just one. A 5.2-liter V-12 is used on standard DB11 generating 600 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. A V-8 unit is likely to be available identical to that of the Mercedes-AMG. Expect it to be a 4.0-liter V-8 offered in the Mercedes-AMG GT that generating 503 hp. However, it seems the unit used for the DB11 will be tuned for higher horsepower. The retractable top adds weight to the Volante so it could only take 4.1 seconds lesser than the standard DB11’s 3.9 seconds for 62 mph sprint and reach 196 mph of top speed.
