The front end is new and optimized to feed air to the GT500’s unique engine, a dual-turbocharged V-8. Across the top edge of the hood above the grille, there are the removable zippered panels where cooling vents are placed. The openings are completely new over the Mustang GT or the GT350 and there is unique lower fascia. The GT350 features an extractor vent that faces backward farther up the hood. The diagonal jousts lean outward splitting the lower air bay from the outboard brake-cooling channel unlike those of the GT350 that face inward. These mirrors the right-side-up cage shape of the famous Mustang grille that give an upside-down cage shape to the lower intake. There is the same thrive with the current Shelby GT500’s face. It seems it comes with an intercooler at the bottom.

2018 Ford Mustang Release Date

The Mustang Shelby GT500 will go on sale as a 2018 model late in 2017 after revealed at an auto show soon this year or near the beginning next year. The new 2018 Ford Mustang First Look, Release Date, Price will compete against Chevrolet Camaro in term of engine. The outgoing Mustang is underpowered by the Camaro though only the optional EcoBoost 2.3-liter turbo four on Mustang overpowers the Camaro’s base 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The new GT500 will be powered with a V-8 twin-turbocharged engine dropping the current supercharging as it does not go with the company’s EcoBoost forced-induction approach. An updated 5.0-liter Coyote V-8 will likely be used just like the 5.2-liter Voodoo engine used on the GT 350. Forced induction might need to lower the high compression ratios on both engines. Turbocharged direct-injected engine has used the Ford’s EcoBoost system but either engine would need to switch to direct fuel injection from port injection. The engine could be mated to a standard manual transmission and the optional 10-speed automatic transmission co-developed with Ford and similar used on the Chevrolet ZL1.

2018 Ford Mustang Price
