2018 Mercedes-AMG GT Roadster Price, Release Data, Interior, Look Review

Released before the 2016 Paris Motor Show, 2018 Mercedes-AMG GT Roadster follows the release of the newer GT R version in 2016. The AMG GT will mainly compete against the Porsche 911 though it is actually smaller and replacement for the SLS AMG. As successor to the SLS AMG was introduced in 2014, it is the first to use the latest 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8 engine and sports the Mercedes-AMG badge.

The coupe lends most of its styling features for the Roadster aside from losing its fixed roof. The rear end is the most important and noticeable change. There is a longer deck lid as it is the fastback type with the new roof configuration. The car’s sleek look won’t be spoiled due to a smoother shift from one body style to the other with this tweak. The 2018 Mercedes-AMG GT Roadster is shorter and identical to the SLS AMG soft-top but differs to the shape of the coupe roof unlike other cabriolets. It takes around eleven seconds to open and close the fabric roof at up to 31 mph of speed to do this. To keep center of gravity low and the curb weight, Steel, magnesium, and aluminum is a lightweight material used to make the three-layered soft-top. A 5-twin-spoke design is offered for either the new 19-inch or 20-inch AMG light-alloy wheels for the Roadster.

There is the same remarkable aviation-themed cockpit design inside the cabin of the Roadster. Curved in-shaped door panels and the center stack spotlight-shaped A/C vents on the same wing-like dashboard are available. The 4.0-liter engine under the hood inspires its eight cylinders in a V arrangement for the AMG Drive Unit controls on the motorsport-themed center console. Leather, contrast stitching, Alcantara, and excellent fit and finish are high-quality materials packed in the cabin. The coupe shares its infotainment system featuring the newest apps and features.
